labor day breakfast

LABOR DAY BREAKFAST
Come one, come all ILWU family and friends – longshoremen, clerks, foremen and office clericals – to the Longshore Memorial Hall, 231 “C” Street. Notice that this year we have changed venues. We are going to enjoy this year’s breakfast in the comfort of Local 13’s meeting hall. The family of labor is getting together. This is our special celebration – every worker’s national day of honor - Labor Day. On Monday, September 3 we will serve our 11th Annual Pancake Breakfast. Chow time is 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Brother Ray Pearson is the Coordinator. Brother Mike Miller is the “One Man Gang”. Besides giving our union a great deal of his personal time, Brother Mike supervises EVERYTHING from ordering the food to the preparation of this year’s menu. Thanks Mike.
Our very own Southern California Pensioners Group generously sponsors the entire event. So, it’s all free! Each year the pensioners buy the volunteers a special silk screened apron. This year’s 27” adjustable apron is orange with three pockets. The view on the right is this year’s design. In color, they are great looking. Our aprons have become a collector’s item. Because so many of you expressed a desire to purchase one of these commemorative aprons, again this year there will be a limited number available for $20.00 each. The keeper of all records, Brother Ray Pearson, has the aprons available for purchase. Please see Ray. We thank our pensioners.
Moms don’t cook breakfast and don’t wash dishes on Labor Day. It’s your day too. Say “no” to unnecessary work on Labor Day! Get the kiddies and lug dad down to the Memorial Hall. All the kids get a balloon. They love that. Dads - be cool - take mom and the kids to breakfast. It’s fun and it’s free.
On behalf of the Southern Californian Pensioners Group, Brother Dan Imbagliazzo
